Mónica Reyes Gallery (MRG) has been supporting the growth and development of emerging, mid-career and established visual artists since 2013. While these artists are primarily based in western Canada, MRG’s reach extends to South America. Since its early days, MRG has been committed to exhibiting artists from the diaspora. In 2022 the gallery opened a second location in Mackenzie Heights which earlier in 2024 became her new home base to better served its collectors and engaged its artists with a new audience. MRG also initiated COMBINE Art Fair, an annual event since 2021 that is ongoing, and is the first art fair on the westcoast. Mónica Reyes Gallery is a driving force in the local art scene positioning as a natural for its dynamic programming and social contributions, she takes pride in presenting a programming that is relevant and often challenging within a commercial context.
Before opening her gallery in 2013 Monica had already been involved in the local art scene for over 10 years working along some one the most respected art galleries at the time, she had also explored getting her hands on independently curating art shows in Vancouver and San Francisco, CA and setting up pop-up art galleries around the city. Her refine and trained eye has been crucial for spotting talent at an early stage, this has given her a reputation as a go to source to find the upcoming artists.
Founder and director Mónica Reyes has been a longstanding figure in the Vancouver art scene having served as Vice President of the Contemporary Art Society of Vancouver, the Board of Latincouver and Board of the Strathcona Business Improvement Assosiation (SBIA) currently she volunteers her time with the fundraising committees of the Illuminate Gala of the Audain Art Museum and the Choir Leoni Gala Committee.
In 2024 we launched Monica Reyes Gallery Gift Shop at the Museum of Vancouver with the intention of highlighting the works of the local makers, artists and artisans works intended for an everyday use.
Monica was born in Concepcion, Chile where she grew up and attended arts school, she moved to Canada in the mid 90's.

COMBINE Art Fair returns!
COMBINE Art Fair returns to Griffin Art Projects for a second year this coming December 8-11, 2022
COMBINE Art Fair had its inaugural edition in December 2021 when it opened as a new collaborative model where multiple Vancouver galleries were housed under one roof. This venture saw over two hundred participants attend in the space of four days and inspired a conversation about how a 'boutique' event might contribute to the Vancouver art scene.
COMBINE will take place once again in 2022 at Griffin Art Projects Residency from December 8th to 11th, 2022. Griffin is pleased to collaborate once again this year with Monica Reyes Gallery, Unit 17 and WAAP (Wil Aballe Arts Projects). We are thrilled to welcome a new gallerist to Combine Art Fair, Montreal-based Hugues Charbonneau, whose exciting work and artists will bring new discoveries this year. With Griffin's mandate as a collector-driven institution to feature private collections for free to the public on the West Coast, we are pleased to support and contribute to this exciting venture.
As we know, within the Vancouver art ecosystem, there are many interdependent parts: artists, collectors, galleries, non-profits and institutions. All are needed to thrive and keep the ecosystem healthy. Galleries are vital for nurturing emerging artists and for exposing young collectors to new audiences.. The galleries featured in COMBINE Art Fair will once again provide an access point for new art being made on the West Coast while expanding to a national conversation. The fair is also apt for more seasoned collectors who want to continue learning about new voices in the local scene and beyond.
The project began at the outset of the Covid-19 pandemic, as a way to respond to the challenges of attending national and international events, and has evolved over the course of three years. By exploring new art fair models and means of collaboration, we continue to look to contribute to the arts ecology nationally and locally.
Founding galleries Monica Reyes Gallery, Unit 17, WAAP will work with Griffin to create COMBINE Art Fair, which offers fresh perspectives on contemporary art and collecting. The overall project is intended to create an exciting new art fair event that supports our local art community during these extraordinary and continually evolving times while suggesting a new model for the future.
