"My artistic research investigates the human body, skin and clothing and the way in which these elements dialogue and conform, autonomously and together, the body and appearance of an individual. Through clothing, textiles and painting, I explore the materiality and form of those elements. As well as the metaphorical relation between these, where the skin begins to look more like a garment that surrounds us and we cannot change, and the clothing a second skin that we choose and transform daily.
In the last years I have been investigating and developing a set of works that put in question the link between “the bestial” and “the human”. These seek to demons- trate the origin and the animal condition of the Homo sapiens, problematizing the relation between humans and other animals. Starting from the shamanic and spiritual perspectives from Latin-American cultures, to also current issues about the established links that derive, throughout cultural history, in the abuse and human domain over other species." On the other hand
September 28 - October 19, 2024
"On the other hand" presents a collection of works that investigate the body and its fragments through textile sculpture and painting. The exhibition explores the different forms these representations take, creating an ambiguous dialogue between the fictional and the real, the absent and the present, the visible and the hidden. It invites viewers to imagine and complete, in a gestalt-like manner, the body that lies on the other side of the artwork.
The exhibition proposes new anatomies resulting from the fictional merging of different species, revisiting surrealism and reflecting on the posthuman, simultaneously revealing both the differences and similarities between these bodies and that of the viewer.
