- Color Stacks series
This group of work, entitled Color Stacks, is an exploration of color, texture, opacity, and transparency. With each layer of color Katherine attempts to subvert her initial instincts and choices in order to find unexpected color relationships. By ignoring and pushing past what she thinks would be the obvious color choice, Katherine seeks to question and to understand her own instincts and where they come from.
Katherine Duclos was born in Massachusetts and received her MFA in Painting and Drawing from Pratt Institute in 2012 in Brooklyn, NY. After 10 years in New York, she moved to Vancouver, BC in late 2017 with her family. She has exhibited her work in Canada and the United States. She has worked as a teaching artist for organizations such as Studio in a School in New York City and the Philadelphia Museum of Art.
