Pablo Dompé | Emerged
Emerged comprises a selection of drawings and sculptures in marble, wood, and plastic developed by Pablo Dompé in Vancouver between 2013 and 2014.
The installation’s arrangement and the carving processes are inspired by Dompé’s experience in the field of archeology where the finding of artifacts, bodily remains, sediments and rock formations reveal indications and traces that attempt to understand the enigmas of our origins.
In archeology, as in art meaning emerges in chaotic or harmonious ways. It is through a process of signification that a coherent read of our histories emerge.
This exhibition presents a material expression of Dompé’s search for a coherent archeology of his environment, his studio, the proximate or far realities that surround him.
Pablo Dompe is an artist born in Buenos Aires, Argentina in 1976.
He works in marble, metal and wood exploring formal and conceptual tensions that emerge from the study of organic realms. Dompe has participated in numerous symposiums and biennales in Argentina (Cipoletti, Neuquen, Santa Rosa) also attended the one in Saransk, Russia.
